P R O F I L E : BÜRO SEDA KURT ŞENGÜN

B Ü R O S E D A K U R T Ş E N G Ü N was founded in 2020 as a registered landscape architecture bureau under the UCTEA Chamber of Landscape Architects, Istanbul Branch and became a member of the IUCN CEM-International Union for Conservation of Nature Ecosystem Management Commission at 2023. The bureau focuses on strategic and aesthetic approaches to landscape architecture, working both on-site and in the bureau. It provides comprehensive project documentation and meets project & construction coordination and consultancy needs related to landscape design and implementation. Operating remotely from Istanbul, the bureau conducts physical meetings and in-situ collaborations across various regions throughout Anatolia, Türkiye. With several awarded projects, in 2025, the bureau's EARTH QUARRY project is exhibited in the Pavilion of Türkiye at the 19th Venice Architecture Biennale.

Seda Kurt Şengün is a landscape architect (MSci), working across design and education,
co-founder of PARCH and founder of BÜRO SEDA KURT ŞENGÜN.

She graduated from the Department of Landscape Architecture at Istanbul Technical University (ITU) in 2008, and earned her MSc in Architectural Design from the same institution in 2014 with a thesis titled “Landscape of Lost Spaces”, which is on heterotopia, non-place, the third landscape, terrain vague, and photography as an artistic tool. She was a visiting researcher at ENSA Lyon in 2013 and awarded participant for a masterclass at Bauhaus University in 2007. She invited to lectures, reviews by architects and institutes and in 2018, invited as the principal jury of the 10th National Landscape Architecture Professional Awards organized by the Chamber of Landscape Architects, Türkiye. In 2017, she co-founded PARCH, an architectural practice and thought initiative. The practice has won several national awards in Türkiye through competitions initiated by local governments, with projects ranging from 75 hectares to 500 square meters and conducts a workshop programme Park @ PARCH. Her essays have been published by leading architectural publishers in Türkiye. Among them, she was invited to contribute to the book Peyzajı Açmak, published by YEM in 2022. In 2024, she authored the article titled "Peyzaj Mimarlığı: BioPoetik Bir Politika" for Arredamento Mimarlık issue 367, which focused on the theme Landscape Architecture in Türkiye.

For a decade, Seda has contributed to architecture and landscape education as a visiting professor in Türkiye, conducting design studios and interdisciplinary research at institutions. Her academic and professional work often engages with ecologies of architecture, archaeology, geography, and geology—bridging intellectual research with built practice.
